Transportation Assistance Fund

PROVIDING COMPASSION AND Hope

The Mission Cancer Foundation Transportation Assistance Fund is proud to be able to assist cancer patients to overcome transportation barriers and get to and from cancer-related treatment appointments. Our fund provides $50 gas cards or ride share cards to ensure access to lifesaving cancer treatments in Central Iowa.

Patients seeking financial assistance for supportive services and resources may complete the online application. The Mission Cancer Foundation will review the application on a rolling deadline to approve or decline your submission. Once a determination has been made, you will be notified via email.

Qualifications

Patient qualification relies on the following eligibility criteria:
  • You must be receiving active medical oncology treatment in or reside in the following Central Iowa counties: Adams, Adair, Appanoose, Audubon, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Greene, Guthrie, Hamilton, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Taylor, Union, Warren, Wayne, Webster.

Transportation Assistance Fund
I am a 36 year old single mother of four with great family support. However, we do require a lot of drive time to John Stoddard Cancer center, and the University of Nebraska Medical center for my continued treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. These cards are tremendously helpful, and help take the edge off on gas prices.

The gas card program has helped tremendously for traveling about an hour there and back for treatments! Usually 2-3 times a week during chemo weeks, going there and back, then two days later to get unhooked, and the following day to get my bone marrow shot! Very thankful for the gas card program and how it's helped!
